Terroir

Château de Pierreux’s 110 hectares of vines are planted in shallow, well-drained pink granitic, schistous, and siliceous soils which contain deposits of blue porphyry from the volcanic eruptions of Mont Brouilly that date back millions of years.

Several parcels, with promising soil, make up this Beaujolais-Villages Blanc.
« Le Savigny», 1.2 hectares, soil predominantly composed of granite and limestone with clay.
« Le Gonnu », 3 hectares, chiefly on pink granite. This plot facing west-southwest.

Since the 2020 vintage, a third plot has been added:
«Le grand Vernay», 2.9 hectares, predominantly clay-limestone soil.

The estate was certified High Environmental Value (HVE) in 2020.

The vineyard

Planting density: 8,400 vines/ha & 6,000 vines/ha for "Le Grand Vernay" plot .
Age of the vines: plantation 2009 & 2017 for "Le Grand Vernay" plot.
Pruning: Guyot.

Work philosophy: Growing methods are decided upon vineyard by vineyard according to lutte raisonnée, an environmentally friendly approach. Everything is analysed in detail: risk of disease, the number of harmful and beneficial insects that can be found in each vineyard, the size and number of bunches of grapes per vine, problems with weeds, the health of the vines’ leaves, etc.

Working of the soil: de-earthing, scraping, hoeing between the vines.

This philosophy has 3 objectives:
      - limiting the use of chemicals in the vineyards,
      - re-establishing the vines’ physiological balance,
      - protecting the environment

Tasting

The wine, clear and radiant, displays a beautiful pale gold hue with silvery highlights. The nose opens with an expressive bouquet dominated by aromas of white flowers such as acacia and hawthorn, before evolving toward subtle notes of milk caramel. On the palate, the attack is round and generous, supported by a pleasant freshness. The overall impression is harmonious, with a delicate structure and a lovely length. Fine floral nuances on the finish extend the tasting experience with softness and elegance.

Vintage : 2025

The 2025 vintage is marked by very early development. Following a mild winter and a rainy spring, the vegetative cycle was accelerated by strong climatic contrasts: heavy rainfall in June, high summer temperatures, and a heatwave in August.
Harvesting began on August 25. Yields were reduced due to hail and significant millerandage, but thanks to meticulous work in both the vineyard and the cellar, the grapes display excellent concentration and a beautiful golden color.
